I have never liked the idea of carrying a rifle barrel down in this type of setup. Years ago I had a Remington Model 7 in a slip in gunbag and one do pulling it out I found a galvanised 4" nail in the end of the barrel. Somehow it must have got into the gunbag while lying around in the workshop...? Any ways it had damaged the crown and the bore necessitating replacement..
I guess you will get away with it having muzzle brakes on rifles but the thought of a nicely crowned barrel bouncing around in whatever grit and debri gets in there is disturbing to me...
I also manage to sit on my arse at times and that doesn't sound ideal either..
How do y'all mitigate these issues for this type of setups?
Tape and a bit of foam in the bottom. You raise a good point that should not be overlooked.
