Fancy Gumboots yes or no?

Recently my GSP pup thought it a good idea to chew my boot…so looking for new pair without holes.

Do I buy more expensive boots or just good old redbands. Want comfortable sturdy boots that are more fitted around the leg with neoprene etc…
I don’t farm, but use boots often of farm hunts and on mates bush block and around my lifestyle block. Riding quad bikes and 2 wheelers. Mud clay and shallow streams.

I am thinking of one of the following boots, maybe you can give feed back on if they worth it.

1. Grubs’ Tideline Boot
2. Betacraft Dunlop Snugboot Pioneer
3. Boonies Overland Camo
4. Muck woody max tall boot

Keen to hear what worked for you and what didn’t?
Also advice on finding a deal is also handy?

I use gumboots in the same way as you. Just got through a pair of Mainlanders, they lasted well and were comfortable. My complaint is that the top of the boots slapped against my shins unless wearing thick trousers. The buckles always slipped and eventually broke. Looking at Skellerup Quatro Sport now. I like the idea of more fitted European-style boot (e.g. Aigle), but getting them to NZ is costly.

Skellerup Quattro are great. Had mine for about 4-5 years and still plenty of life in them.

You have a better run then me...Had three pairs and most I got was one and a half winters. All failed at the join between the sole and upper where the boots flex. One pair replaced under warranty. Replace the lasted until just out of warranty. Comfortable boots though.

Gumboots= crocs for real blokes since forever

Good old red bands for me. They just seem to fit my feet properly

Spika make a pair of full-sized gumboots.

Redbands arn't a patch on what they were when made here in NZ.

Neoprene gumboots are great. Just don't buy any where the rubber/neoprene junction is near the ankle. Too much flex in that area and the neoprene shits itself (Grubbs are bad for this)

Red bands or 4x4's

The Grubbs I’ve seen all had a very short lifespan before perishing.
I like the quatros, warm and solid, now on my second pair after a number of years, however they are heavy on your feet. The extra thickness on top of the foot is nice with motorbike shifters etc.

Muck boots have changed my life. Best all day boots I've ever had. Had for two years and still in great condition.

Gone through a few pairs of Red Bands and almost at the end of life for my first pair of Skellerup 4x4's. Have a pair of Quattros sitting almost new in the garage, as they just don't get used.
Redbands are good, but the tread pattern is less than ideal. 4x4's are similar to Red Bands but have a better tread pattern IMHO. Quattro is a nice boot, but a pain in the arse to put on and take off compared to the other boots. I just want to walk into a pair of gumboots, often with hands already full, and the quattros aren't a boot that allowed me to do that.

perth do it for me....tall boots so dont slop around like redbands do....the fancy pants gumboots are twice the price and I dont believe you get twice the boot for your money....99% of the time gumboots crap out where they fold between toes and ankle on the top of the boot..Ive killed bata industrials in a month.

Bata Industrial boots are made of plastic and are bad news for your feet.

I've been a red bands man since forever. I wear gummys pretty much every day. Only find red bands limiting when fishing or duck shooting when something a bit taller would be good.

Quatro boots are the ones for me. I had a standard pair for almost 9 years before they leaked, and still have the hard toe version that I treated myself to when stevedoring on log vessels in winter. Heavy AF, but bullet proof

Have had Red Bands for years, lashed on a pair of Boonies last winter. Much better in the mud & wet in winter . Keep the red bands for dry weather

Better in what way @chainsaw? Warmer? More grip?

Muck boots . Hands down the best Ive ever used.
Wouldn’t buy anything else.

Yes better grip or tread, but biggest plus for me is the higher boot top & firmer fit around top of your calves. Helps keep the mud & shite where it belongs… on the outside. Better ankle support

You run some expensive gear. LOL.

Muck boots or a good copy. Way better arch support and comfort for all day work, hunting wear.
