Yep - the HID is now a thing of the past. The upgraded M24 took care of that, and the 2X surprised me with it's increased throw. That larger reflector definitely does the job.

I guess the biggest difference for me was the more natural colour tint of the M24 and 2X as opposed to the really bluish tint of the HID. It just makes spotting animals a lot easier as everything is not washed out.

Yes the Maxtochs designed for extreme range but also optimum colour rendition. As close to natural colour as possible downrange - with a bit of old school halogen lemon tint chucked in to cut through atmospheric fog and crap.

If those cows on the back ridge were centre beam I do not doubt they'd still show up very clearly at 1200m/1300 yards.

That's the best extreme range photography we've seen. Wicked.
