Gadget and I very pleased with the latest M24 and 2X. You can use either for any job, or together (got an M24 on my rifle and 2X as handheld) they make an unbeatable combination. No plan to design any more LR handheld torches until Cree produces some new type of led.

But ... we are looking at a lightweight long range headlamp and have specs on the drawing board with Maxtoch. Won't be soon but we'll see what happens. We are not after super long range with a new headlamp - the M24s and 2Xs do that job - but we are looking at say 500m range. I get very concerned when I see people paying a massive $499 for the latest 'high technology' led lenser XEO-19R headlamp - which costs as much as a rifle, weighs 478gms (heavier than Maxtoch 2X handheld with batts in it), has poor runtimes, and a range of just 300 meters. What an absolute crock.

I have a 3-4 year old chinese headlight - quite well made and after gadget popped a new dedomed led in it the other day it produces a 400m beam. Price - about $36 total. WTF? So we'll take a look at a genuine high performer, with some genuine high tech, and try to have it available to hunters at a fraction of that ridiculous $499 price.

If the idea gets to prototype stage Quentin we might send one up for more test photograpy.
