That is wicked Quentin/Wirehunt. Very neat adaptation - 2X is gonna make one hell of a headlamp. I would say there might be a few other hunters interested in this mod over time too.

This is exactly how these maxtoch hunter lights started. Some kiwi boys thinking 'hmmm...I reckon we can do better than that', and nek minit there are bits all over the kitchen table...

    Great work

Ha I've been looking of a 12v LED floodlignt to light up my daughters riding arena out in the paddock.

Cant find any suitable floodlights, they are all to wide a beam so was thinking of wiring up my older sx??? led flashlight or getting another M24 but thought they have a cutoff cirucut in them to stop them overheating if run continuously for too long.

So will they run continuously for 1-2hr ?

Have you considered the LED light bars you can get for 4wd's? A m24 will be way too narrow a beam. I haven't had an issue with them overheating even when used for 5 continuous hours.

Options for an IR black light filter to fit onto the Maxtoch M24 ?

You will have problems with the white LED in the Maxtoch not producing a lot of IR light. Old school incandescent lights produced a lot, and with an IR pass filter made good IR illuminators.
The better option may be to get a light with an IR LED instead.

Thats interesting thanks for that info.
I have an LED IR and it didn't help much but also ordered in an IR black filter for my Lightforce old school spotlight as well .... so it sounds like that will be the best solution.

Good evening everyone hopefully this post is to the correct forum, please let me know if I need to move it. I have been trawling the internet and forums looking for info on a good torch to mount on my .22 for possum shooting. I have found a lot of old posts and some recent ones too, and from what I have gathered, it appears that the Maxtoch is the pick of the bunch. However, I cannot justify the price of the 2X, especially on top of all the extra bits ill need (batteries, charger etc) and I was wondering if anyone had a idea on a good cheaper alternative? Or do these not exist? Any info would be great, cheers.

The Convoy C8 is an excellent smaller/cheaper alternative, still with all the range you need for rabbit/possum shooting with a .22. Single battery, so shorter time between battery changes, but that's not a big deal.

    Something like this - https://www.fasttech.com/p/2648900

They're also available on Aliexpress, just make sure you get a smooth reflector version.

My 10/22 runs a Convoy C8 and its dynamite on rabbits and possums.
My Maxtoch lives on the .223 for long range hare exploding

@StrikerNZ Any ideas how does the C8 compare to something like a Led LenserP7.2? Unless I have new batteries in the Led Lenser she is a bit dim.

Give the led lenser to someone you don't like, and get a C8 or Maxtoch. I have had lensers and they may as well not even be switched on when run next to the Maxtoch
