haha I had some arrive with a cheap torch that claimed 5,000! they didn't test more than 800. I do have some 26650s that test over 5,000 BUT they are a hell of a lot bigger than 18650s.

Total BS. A serious case of Chinese exaggeration. There are very few manufacturers can can make a true 3500mAh cell at the moment, let alone a 4800mAh 18650. That's the realm of the larger 32650 cells.

As a rule you'll be lucky to get 25% of the stated capacity with that sort of cell.

Post a link. Sounds like they need to be flushed out as BSers

Try Maxtoch on aliexpress or @burtonator.

@gadgetman, is there a simple way to calculate mAh in of a battery or is it simply a case of working out consumption and timing how long the device runs for before the battery is flat?

Basically you have to measure current vs time from full.

@mkm, it can't get any easier, Maxtoch are one of the top 18650 batteries around, Burtonator is a member of this forum, based in Nelson who imports direct from Maxtoch. Or you can also order the batteries yourself from Aliexpress. It is as easy as easy is.

Cheers @ROKTOY - got a couple of Maxtoch off @burtonator earlier this year for a Armytek headtorch (great piece of kit so far). Picked up a couple of cheap Panasonic knockoffs from Aliexpress for a C8.

Was curious to know the actual capacity of the Aliexpress ones!
