    Flys - what's the guts

After a fly for up coming fiordland trip, main use will be as combo to put up over the tent etc.
But will also use it as a stand alone fly after the trip

Obviously the old scale of weight v price comes into play

Was thinking a sil tarp 2, anyone have any experiences/ recommendations,

    Chairs
Went to buy some camouflage trousers the other day but I couldn't find any.

Got there quilt are pretty impressed, use it as a second layer when cold or on its own in a hut in summer

Someone on here had a roll of building material that would work for a fly, got a chunk and now can't remember who.... It is still rolled up waiting for me to toughen up and stop taking a tent! @7mmwsm maybe...

Kooza, I went to spotlight got some blue rip-stop nylon took it it home and the Minister Responsible For Finance, sewed it up on our bog-standard machine complete with peg tags, rope-tags...dead simple and pretty cheap. Good Luck...

I've got the stiltarp 2 as well as a big huntech fly. The Huntech fly is great for living under for a few people. I've used it as a kitchen/dry area to sit down if the weather is crap so your not sitting/lying in a tent for days.
I use the stiltarp 2 for solo missions and as a 2 person shelter and love it. Its fairly light and packs down well but might be a bit small to go over your tent. I have put it over my Exped 4 season tent with a bit hanging over the front so you could get out of the tent into a dry area but it didn't cover the whole tent that way.
Both good flys but wouldn't want to carry the Huntech one for too long

For a Fiordland trip you want a robust one, siltarp2 or a Stoney creek stealth or the drone if weight isn't an issue (cheaper) the SC ones come with guy lines.

I bought a siltarp2 form hunting & fishing recently, it was $199 on there web site https://www.huntingandfishing.co.nz/rab-siltarp-2.html but was $280 in the shop I hit them up about it & the manager said the shop price was wrong but I didn't see them rushing to change the price always pays to your homework
Shut up, get out & start pushing!

I've got a siltarp 2.. But I picked up a 2nd hand Hennessey Hammock siltarp... Way better due to the extended porch configuration.. Still love the siltarp... Both have benefited from extra tie off points to hold the sides out.. But I do spend a few nights under them...
