There is a member here who field tested a pair of Hunters element boots while in my presence. First small stream he stood in they let water through the stitching. May have been a one off, but I wasn't impressed.
Think his user name (& website) is thebloke nz

I just managed to find the review that I differed to, and the interstates that the water came in over his gaiters, so the boots were not to blame.
I must have been somewhere else that day, cos I never found any water more than ankle deep.

I hear what you saying, but from my experience as a shop assistance in a shop that sells all of the lower and upper value boots i guess my opinion is qualified based on what i saw coming back for repair and replacement. These brands you speak of bont come from boot makers, they come from companies that want there brand of everything out in the market, stick to a boot brand

    Buy once cry once

Oh and dont try Hi Tech as they were shit (and thats cos i tried them) spend the money

Hehe. I still have my Hi tech cheapies from 13 years ago and they have heaps of life in them despite me putting drainage holes in the in out step.
Luck of the drawer I guess. I bought them in UK for equivalent of approx $60.

i have had the foxtrot boots wore them when we went hunting on our roar flyin trip ,I wore them for about an hour then I had to take them off and walk back barefoot to the hut as I lost the feeling in my toes (and no they are not the wrong size)lost both my toenails would never touch them again ,they were taken back to the shop when I got home ,hunters element said that they had not had any others returned. This is not my first run in with hunters element I went through 4 yes 4 of there 45 litre packs ,stitching coming undone, straps coming off and my favourite when they didn't put the plastic caps on the bars in the back resulting in one scratched up steyr sent them photos they took a long time to get back as the owner was overseas they did send me a free jacket but the stitching came away as well it's crap gear and would never touch it again .

Getting tired of my squeeky, heavy, full leather clompers so been looking at the LOWA Z-8S GTX boots. $500-$600 in NZ but have found a site in Gemany selling them for 199Eur (about $280NZ).

Based on combat boots but have been tweaked for hunting and stalking. Pretty solid brand for boots so they should be ok?

FishnHunt - New Zealands Famous Hunting and Fishing Forum Since 1995 - REVIEW - Salomon Quest 4D 2GTX Boots

get em cheap ish over the internet,

I wouldn't expect anything of hunting brand boots to last for 200 bucks, it will take these companies another 50 years to get up to speed and realize what the euros have been doing for the last however long. I wouldn't trust what a hunting mag review says about the boot, chances are the article was stitched up and really, why would a magazine put a bad review of something, as the whole point is for advertising
