    Gaiters - short or long?

Looking to get some new Gaiters after the lab chewed up my last pair (not as robust as I thought!). Tossing up Short or Longer gaiters, mainly bush hunting. What's your preference?

Bush hunting go short. Only need to stop sticks etc going into boots. Even if hunting tops now I wear short. Legs don't get as hot. Long ones good for slowing Spaniard grass stabs and protecting shins from snow.

Short for me these days unless snow, spaniards or matagouri is on the cards.

I wear Manitoba all day and night whether bush hunting or pasture. On pasture they protect from the thousands of thistles. I've found Maitoba robust and hard wearing, I haven't lab tested them! I don't know whether they are long, medium or short, but measure 400mm and come up to my knee. I've just noticed a "L" label, but that might be diameter, not height?Name: 20240316_141032.jpg

long to semi protect your legs..if going short mayas well just use wide insulation tape around top of boots, keeps the gravel etc out of boots but bugger all else.....would hate to think how many wasp attacks the taller gaiters have saved me from....noise is cancelled out in cold weather by wearing under long trousers...

Prefer long for most the year for protection and extra warmth but yes hot in summer.

I wear long, mostly because I wear stubbies and poly leggings, the gaiters stop them getting ripped to shreds, probably depends mostly on the bush etc you encounter

Cheers guys. I did have short Bushbucks but have been tossing up the longer/ taller gaiters to protect the legs bit more. I just Hunt shorts & leggings. Quite like the look of the Hunters Elements or Stoney Creeks. Next pair will be put well away from where the Lab can reach!!

Long for when wearing shorts or in summer. Longs for snow and maybe matagouri
