Thread: Garmin GPS 62S map ?

I finally made the the plunge into buying a better GPS than my faithful basic etrex combined with paper map and compass.
Being the tight bastard I have had a new one in my hand so many times and put it back on shelf .

So I got what I throught was a bargain on Tard Me .
GPS 62s with Topo map . (second hand
Cut a long story short ,paid for it using Kiwi credit card sent to my NZ address.
Trade me suspended my account due to using account from overseas?

There was no card in GPS so no topo map,can,t contact seller or leave feed back.

My fault should have got a new one or just used old faithful till it died and I can use a map pretty well .

Anyway I have got the bloody thing now .

looking at maps and they are ranging from $199 to $299 ?

what do I need , which topo is everyone using.

I just got one too, only had the standard road maps etc on it, you can download the topo map you need free from NZ Topo Map - NZ Topo Map , click on the little downwards pointing arrow in the tool bar on the left and choose the map you need, then plug your gps into your computer via usb and drag and drop the kmz file into your gps custom maps folder, ive got 3 already and heaps of free space

I have whole of NZ on mine and no card, kiwigps loaded them for me because I am tec challenged .

Thanks fellas for the help , KiwiGPS is the site I was looking for and could not remember the name.
To be fair to the seller after reading a couple of comments on here the topo map could be in there somewhere.
I was thinking it had to be on SD card .
It has the normal road map on it.
I will have a big boy look .
