Battery life is bloody good if you set the Rino up right and be sensible on the radio use.

I have set mine for 50% back light and screen shuts down after 15secs of inactivity.

Can easily get several days on one charge just like this.

The other thing I have done is bought the car charger, a female adapter and a small 12v 7amp/hr spot battery for overnight charges.

Plug the Rino to the battery via the car charger and in less than an hour your fully charged again.

I've recharged four units over three days like this and never run the battery short yet.

For longer trips a solar panel to recharge the spot light battery during the day is the way to go.

    Cheers
    Pete

All the above are spot on. Dont forget to switch it to marine mode. Then the contours on your maps will show up. Oh yeah and ebay is the place to get your road maps for it

Mine works fine with the topo map card i bought. I think marine is a profile choice under setup? Haven't opened that one so can't say what it does

I cant see how opening up marine mode is going to help show details on a topo land map.

I would say that Garmin have got something new coming and want to clear old stock prior to release. And they are using the biggest retailer to do it through. Regardless, its good for the consumer.

I'd say its from Garmin Aussie - they seem to have the 2 for 1 deals every so often

    Such a good deal

I just installed Topo maps from LINZ on mine - so easy (and free)
