I had a Savage Mod.12-VLP .204 for a while. Very accurate (once the previous owner's bodged crown job was fixed), lovely to fire from a rest or bipod, but... I didn't know what the yanks meant by "varmint rifle" at that stage and thought it would be ok for carrying up and down hills chasing goats and wallabies... 26" truck axle barrel, 10lb bare rifle plus a telescope on top and a solid stainless MAE can on the front...
Got out of it ok though - sold rifle, scope and suppressor off separately for more than I paid for them together, and used the money to buy a much more practical 223 that shoots just as well.
