I have a 1000 watt pure seine wave job from Mitre 10 (powermax) that I use pretty much only for running the modem and charging laptop when the sun doesn't shine enough. Pretty common occurance in Nelson, despite the tourist board claims
It is a 2 stroker, so have to make sure the plug is cleaned regulary, but it has not let me down yet

We have various types of sun here, lately its been of the liquid variety

Hi have worked in the generator industry for the last 10 years in NZ, Hire sales and service, The biggest rental company's in NZ only use Hondas, 2and 3 Kvas, for their small single phase stuff, in 5 years with NZGH/Aggreko I have only seen one fail out of a fleet of 50ish,

Worked with some Aggreko power once, bloody amazing guy run it (top notch guy, setup and gear) 6 generators, 4 available at any time. $ yes, but no issues.
