Yep mate got one only a month old and it died, so they gave him a new one and it wouldn't start straight out of the box.
Had Made and Assembled in china on the box
He wanted his money back, but best he could do at the time was a store credit.
He has since taken the matter up with the store manager and looks like he will get money back.
Just added He has his money back and it came from a well known, but un-named, store in Auckland.
Just found this from well know sellers site "The truth is that some Authorised Honda Engines ARE manufactured in China. The Chinese authorised Honda Engines ARE top-quality engines manufactured to Honda's exacting standards. However, an authorised engine manufactured in China should also bear a sticker near the engine on/off switch which states "Not Certified for Sale in the US, Europe and Australia". Even the authorised Chinese Honda Engines aren't recognised here for warranty claims."

Yes I believe Chinese made Hondas are not supposed to be exported as part of their manufacturing license with Honda IIRC. Only for use in their domestic market. Some exporters are obviously not concerned about rules nor are the NZ parallel importers. I have also heard that in some cases they appear on the world market with their serial numbers removed.

Yep we know what "Supposed" is when china is involved
Ask Samsung, Apple and canon just to name a few labels that turn up mysteriously cheap and with the same serial, batch or IMIE numbers
