    Gong Recommendations?

Have never tried gongs but Looking at picking up one for some long range practice with 7mm RM and .308. AR500 seems to be the common material after quick google. What range would you have to push these out to to avoid destroying it in short order? Would like to try 500-800m but needs to be fairly portable so reckon a 300mm wide one would work?

Before I head off to local gun shop any other recommendations for where to pick one up?

    Ta.

Try a local engineering workshop. Yes 500 or greater

Pre-made ones are available from the likes of rifle ranch targets. 8 mm thick is fine with ar 450 or 500 having it hang at a slight angle significantly reduces damage to the surface.

I brought a couple of Steel targets nz a 100 and 200mm tear drop and put them to the test 100m with a 7mm rem mag and so far no damage they are tuff. Hung on a bit of pipe by conveyor belt so they swing a bit too

I had some made up at an engineering shop same dimensions as a piece of A4 paper & they were way cheaper.

Best metal is bisalloy which is basically armour plating
