Went with the 62s. Thanks for those links though Stu. I'm no pro hunter and am really just after it for finding where I am at any given time at this stage.

Thanks for coming to the party Fairgame and matching DSE price. Much rather my money stay floating round this country.
Shes alright, gets to go to Melbourne to do some shopping soon so I get my free rain.
Any specific batteries you would recommend to use in this unit over others?
I used 2500mAh Energizer Rechargeable Nickel Metal Hydride batteries.
With the back light set to the lowest brightness, screen shut down set to 15 seconds and battery save set to activate on screen shut down, I'd get about 20 hours use on a set.
I always carried three sets with me in my day pack.
Cheers
Pete
Nice one, cheers. Now I just need PLB and an AR. Having a prick of a time finding one of those.
I did a similar thing a while back, camp was on a bench in the bush.
Heading back cold wet in the dark i got to the point where i thought"must have overshot" turned on the etrex and i had over shot by 150m followed my boot prints back and if i had of looked that way i would have seen my tent in the head lamp lol. Internal gps is generally pretty good but i was obviously too keen to get to camp being wet and frozen to the core.:D

Good on Ya Nibblet. You will never regret it
I'm confident I won't
Now I just hope my other toy shows up by the weekend. Bring on some more gun porn!
Note, please don't let this photo of the screen be a reflection of product quality. Just posted it for P38 to show the stuff I use for a screen protector. Bit lazy when I applied it so has a bit of air under it. Super tough though, razor blade struggles to damage it.
Hi guys, To save starting a new thread. I am looking at replacing my PocketPC with a GPS reciver that is around 8 years old now - Touch screen with a SRIFFIII chipset and Memory Map had great accuracy and detail. I am looking at replacing it with a Garmin 62SC for $599 with that hunting and fishing special with Fresh Maps. What is the quality of map like with Fresh map?
62S is the best i have used been in steep heavy cover in the ureweras and kaimanawas with no issues. that is a great price you got it for
I have the 76csx cause it floats (kayaking), and I have the free opensource off road map sets. I'd go garmin because of the opensource maps, 4+ years old seems solid.
I just managed to sell the wifey on getting a Rino 650. Not really sure how I managed that - "its safety gear" and "it should work over in Aussie" might have swayed the vote. Who else has one of these? what do you think of it now you've had it a while?
