which are illegal to import and if caught operating can be fined up to $10,000 . there are strict regulations on the fixed uhf frequencies civilian band UHF radio equipment is allowed operate in nz, most equipment sold outside nz is not configured to only work on the permitted channels, customs regularly intercept radios in the post and fill up pallet bins of seized uhf handsets.
careful you don't get caught, last year i came across a guy in a sign written truck off rd near cromwell, employed purely to track and monitor use of radio signals.. kinda like a fisheries officer but for radio signals ffs
