Just a quick follow up to my last reply on this thread, couriered boots back to seller Monday last week and new replacement boots turned up at home today. Considering they apparently had to be returned to distributor for testing not too bad at all time wise so at this stage, and only if the new ones are waterproof, still a happy Salewa convert. (Would have been nice if the store had offered to pay my postage to return them though)
Dry feet still.

Bought a pair of Rapace on Friday, bought locally as I needed to know my sizing in Salewa boots and wanted to promote a local independent store. Took them up into the snow yesterday and came home with dry warm feet for the first time in I don't know how many years. A great boot so far and no issues, I do struggle to get boots that fit properly so these are a revelation for me.
I didn't know which size so needed to trial, interestingly I had to shorten by 3 notches my crampons for the new boots over the old Sportivas I had, no wonder the new boots weigh so much less
Just in case anyone views this thread while researching boots, a further update, had to return the replacement pair of Mountain trainer lites I received in August, same problem, leaking around toe cap area. I was almost going to accept wet feet and not bother returning them as they are just so damn comfy but I noticed the fabric outer was starting to wear out where the boot creases while stepping forward, this is also where the leak is, leaking is one thing but boot falling apart is another. Anyways awaiting the distributor to confirm but will be looking to go to the standard version of the mountain trainer if a replacement is offered. Maybe bad luck with two dodgy examples as have had light use in bush only.
My Rapace are still going good as gold , will definitely be getting another pair when these ones wear out. lately i've been putting some Nikwax on the gortex tongue which has helped with waterproofing.
Hi Guys, going to order a pair of mountain trainers.
Size wise are they pretty good to standard or go a size bigger?
