Any of you guys use a Hennessy hammock with insulation this time of year. Was thinking about getting one, have heard good things about them.

They are excellent! I really like mine but you need insulation (think thermarest type thing) when the temperature drops.
There is a previous thread on here if you search for it.
Both Barefoot and I will be sleeping in our Henneseys up the Horomanga in a fortnight. I plan on using the under cover
It takes 43 muscle's to frown and 17 to smile, but only 3 for proper trigger pull.
What more do we need? If we are above ground and breathing the rest is up to us!
Rule 1: Treat every firearm as loaded
Rule 2: Always point firearms in a safe direction
Rule 3: Load a firearm only when ready to fire
Rule 4: Identify your target beyond all doubt
Rule 5: Check your firing zone
Rule 6: Store firearms and ammunition safely
Rule 7: Avoid alcohol and drugs when handling firearms
I have one now. Its alright but would agree on the insulation. Never used it in the bush yet but can it getting cold.

Insulation is a must for a Hennessy
I currently use this mat folded in half and it's been ok so far and does reflect your body heat.
It's a bit bulky as the foil is lined with 3mm foam so may not be suitable where space in the pack is at a premium but it does pack smaller than the traditional foam mat

I have a very warm sleeping bag and don't usually get cold at nights but haven't slept out in snow with this ...... yet.
I'm taking it to use at Cold Kiwi in September .... I hope it doesn't let me down.
Cheers

How many second hand Huntech Flys or Bivvys do you see for sale?
How many Hennessy Hammocks do you see? Cold, have to try and keep your gear stacked under them dry, can get wet if the fly is not pitched perfectly, they are only good with a larger fly over the top and an insulation pad. If you are taking all that into the bush you may as well ditch the hammock and use the pad and fly!
I gave one a good trial over half a dozen trips. The last trip I just used my pad and the small hammock fly without the hammock and it was twice as warm and comfortable! Those sill tarps are 1/4 the size and weight of the smallest hammock available and much more versatile.
