    High quality boots?????

I found this in the Kawekas the other day. Not the first time I have come across a major failure in this brand.
(My son and two of my friends have both had less than satisfactory wear from these rather expensive boots). If you are looking at spending a bit on some good boots ask the people that sell them which brands they don't get back for repair or replacement.

Never seen a pair of John Bulls, Bullers or Red bands do that.

Hope the poor bugger who owned that didn't have too far to walk in their socks.

    Cheers

If they had to walk in their socks from where I found it they would have VERY sore feet.

Isn't red setter the chch lot?
I have some. Pretty sure they're kiwi made. First pair separated from sole after first trip. Replaced no Qs asked. Second pair held up well. Add gel innersoles and you're sorted.

buy them tight. The leather loosens quite a bit when you start giving them the sno seal treatment. Another product that gets thumbs up from me btw.

Red Setter are from the US. They are soft as you say, and are ankle wreckers in hard country.

The best boots I have ever had (50 years farming and hunting) are Bestards. Made in Spain, get them from EZ Direct, Taupo.

I've had a great run from La Sportiva, good solid boots (the stiffer ones at least). Getting on for 12 years out of my Makalus.

I have a set of Meindls, purchased in 2009 still going strong now. They were the only boot i used in 2010, 2011, 2012, then went to a lighter boot for bush stalking. Both the inside and outside are in good condition for the age and miles they have seen, all going well i think i will get another year or so out of them, so i guess its just luck of the draw.

On the note of lost boots, we found one Haix boot on a track in the Southern Kaimanawas, i think they had tied the boots to the outside of the pack and were walking up the river in crocs or something and it has fallen off. Was at least 3 hours hard walk out so i cant imagine that was much fun.
