Hunters Element Halo Jacket quick review

Have given the jacket a decent workout the week before last. I love my old Swazi Thar anorak but it does get heavy when wet and takes a long time to dry out. It’s now a drive/fly in coat or when very cold like Thar hunting. I hate getting hot so don’t wear a raincoat that often when actually huntint and to be honest if it’s really wet the rustling noise isn’t an issue for me. Tried a Stoney Creek Stowit but didn’t like the shape, length or hood so passed it on to my son. Then I got the Halo after seeing a mate get one. It looked very good for the price and so I have been carrying it but not using it other than around town.

Anyway it performed pretty good. Still gets hot quickly but without pit zips but I think any coat will struggle to breathe when climbing/moving and zips add weight and let water in. Shape was good, kept most rain out and once back to camp it dried out quickly. The only improvement I would make is some shoulder grip to help keep the sling from sliding off so easily. For the Sale price they are excellent value and adds safety as you tend to not worry about taking it and it might save your life.

Not sure about durability but if you mainly carry it in the pack like me I’m sure it will last a few years.

    Happy with my one.
Had it a year or so.
Seems pretty good value for the money.

You depart with mighty boasts, but you come back having done little.
Sounds like a typical hunting trip !

Hard to go wrong for the price point over a $500 jacket.

Mine has kept me dry once and is a nice long cut that covers my shorts and packs down small, mainly gets used as a rear bag for shooting, works a treat when packed into its pocket. For the price will buy another one for sure when the time comes. Other hunters element stuff no way, brought 2 pairs of there stubbies, stitching gone on 1 after 1 day use and other pair ripped down side seam after couple hunts. Think they are hit and miss but they hit with the halo.

Bought one. Fits OK, nice and light (480gm size small). Will see how it goes. $149 on sale with free shipping, hard to go wrong surely. I like the simple anorak style design and the long cut.

It's much better than the stoney creek stowits work bought for us despite being a near identical design

Their stuff used to be rubbishy from my experience but creds to them they seem to have vastly improved (hearsay). Is that correct?
Out beyond ideas of wrongdoing, and right-doing, there is a field. I will meet you there.

That's my impression too. I reckon Halo sales will go up on the basis of this thread!
