Hunters Element Pinnicle Jacket - Brand new but not waterproof

I received a replacement Hunters Element Pinnicle jacket that I had not used until the Roar.
The first day I used it I pulled it out of the plastic bag. A half hour later sitting on a clearing in the rain it was wetted out.
    I got wet through.
Even the insides of the pockets were saturated.
Anyone had this issue with new jackets from Hunters Element?

Not surprised to be honest, wouldn't touch their products. Sorry to hear!

I'm quite gutted to be honest, I thought a Jacket like that would be trouble free for years. Ruined my fly in trip. Not so keen to wear a jacket I'm going to get wet in.

Sorry to hijack, but are you best to wash and dry these flash coats before relying on them, or does it not matter.
Its just I remember wetting the tent a couple of times first, before using it out in the wild

Not that I'm aware, nothing written in the care instructions about wash before use.

I know of 2 hunters that have had to get replacement Hunters element jackets under warranty, due to leaking. They have been given the latest model, but have not had chance to put them to the test yet.
Having owned and witnessed a few pairs of that same brand boots leaking like a sieve and or falling apart in very short order, I will not be buying their products

Same here. Add another two (me and a mate) to that tally. They quickly replaced mine with a better model coat but do I want to rely on it? Not really.

Dare I say it... You get what you pay for! Looking at replacing my ridgeline with either a Swazi or stone Creek, going to cry at the price but at least I know it's going to keep me dry

It's a $500 jacket. I should have spent extra and gone swazi.

    should work, hands down.
you could get a pvc jacket for 'a bit less' that would.
    er would be noisy, sure.
this thread has helped me in choosing a jacket to replace an old one, definitely not H/E....

Not all Hunters Element Jackets are bad, I have a older HE soft shell that works great.

The shop I purchased this new jacket from said to bring it back and they will swap it for a Stoney Creek Glasnock.
From what I hear these jackets are the dogs nuts.
