    Hunting alarm clock?

Well since I resigned from FENZ I don't have a pager any more.
And the alarm on my suunto watch isn't loud enough to wake me reliably.
I turn off my mobile to save the battery.

So any suggestions on a really small, simple, reliable alarm clock for hunting only

Cheap arse cell phone plugged in beside the bed and used as alarm / camera but not a phone. (Also comes in handy if you drop / damage / drown your phone as all you do is swap the sim and you are coping....) If you have a basic phone with all the gadgets, widgets and extras turned off, batt life can be pretty good too.

I’m up every morning between 5 and 5.30 when our 2yo wakes up
Worked a treat when away last week

Buy a battery bank to recharge your phone and put phone in low battery mode

Tap yourself with a finger above the bridge of your nose between your eyes (once for every hour you want e.g. five times for five o’clock). Works a treat for me.
It takes 43 muscle's to frown and 17 to smile, but only 3 for proper trigger pull.
What more do we need? If we are above ground and breathing the rest is up to us!

Put your phone on aeroplane mode too. Especially when out hunting. Helps save battery

Battery packs ane not too dear now either, and there is usually a setting in you phone so the alamr goes off even if the phone is OFF. (Only way to stop the alarm from going off is to pull the battery.)

And stops the bastard ringing as you carefully lift your rifle so it does not spook the deer that walked up to you standing about 5 ft away trying to decide if you are part of the bush or a foreigner......It is starring at you, you are slowly and silently lifting you gun and the "Flight of the bumblebee rings out at 1000 decibels and the pocket starts to vibrate with the tenacity of an earthquake,...You go "Shit!" and snap the rifle up, The deer goes "Shit!" and bolts, and your missus is now angry that you did not pick up on the first ring and you are trying not to scream at her......Yes flight mode sounds like a fantastic idea about now....as does throwing the dam thing as far as you can....

Now picture the same situation in Flight mode.....It is starring at you, you are slowly and silently lifting you gun and you bag a nice deer full of venison,, you turn the phone on to take a few pics and tell the wife you are on the way home, she is happy and tells you she only tried calling a few minutes ago to get you to pick up takeaways on the way home....

I watched a hined followed buy it’s yearling followed by a stag walk past nose to tail within 10m of us while my mate was talking to his wife next to me. I think she wanted to know wether he wanted peas or beans.

Sit your watch in a cup with the end aiming towards you, or hang it above your head. I have a Suunto as well. I have to hang it above my head to be able to hear the alarm, when I have it set right. I haven't been hearing it the last few times. But then I worked out it was set for 6pm not 6am.

Go to the 'Warehouse' and buy a little battery alarm clock. I bought one for hunting, found it was so good bought another three as truck and tractor clocks.
The ones I bought are 75 x65 mm and weigh ( and cost ) nothing. They take one AA battery and run for a year on it. Simple and foolproof 'pull up' alarm set switch. No mistakes with an AM / PM balls ups causing unplanned sleep-in. Totally recommend and the 'Tick' is not so loud that you lay in bed thinking that a crocodile is coming. Ha Ha .Brand Telesonic
