Im on a bit of a Budget and my Current Moroka 30 boots arnt for my Feet- (size 10- ill sell to anyone on this forum for $200.) (leather high topped etc.)

Mostly going off whats Available in Gun city an the like-
any info or previous experience would be great- just after 12 months or so with them!

if there is hunters element in the name TAKE IT OFF YOUR LIST..... a quick search around the forums will show just how many folk consider thier gear crap and it lets you down.
personally its skellerup ashley laceup gumboots and good thick socks....for bush hobbiting and wet conditions they are pretty darn hard to beat...for open tops in summer not so flash.

Most are sayin similiar negatives to the HE stuff-

i walked in 6 hours to a Hut this weekend just gone and my Boots will not cut it, (or are cutting me up) let alone climbing to the Tops-

the Ridgelines might be the G o for me then, or the Highlanders look alright!

+1 for sarvo. You will be much better off buying a good quality 2nd hand pair than piece of junk ridgeline or hunters element boots

Look at Salomon xa pro boots,best I have used in years and well priced at torpedo 7, about $250 from memory.

I bought a pair of Hunters Element Zulu boots 6 or 7 months ago when I wanted a cheapish softer/lighter pair to knock around in for work, easy tramping and bush stuff and keep the wear off the stiffer LaSportivas I use for more serious terrain.

I don't have anything bad to say about them so far - they're comfortable, waterproof, solid enough, reasonably light, full rubber rand etc.

Time will tell how they last long term, but they've done a good few miles and aren't showing any signs of weakness yet. Some of the other HE boots had pretty obvious design flaws though, like seams right on the widest part of the boot where it takes the most pressure and wear.

I think everything Ridgeline I've ever bought has had stitching and/or zips fall apart in pretty short time.

They have some decent designs, and use some ok materials, but the workmanship and quality control is just plain shit.

I've got a couple of pieces of their gear, a fleece that I actually love and a pair of pants that are bloody shocking. Thread unravelling everywhere, zips stripped etc. Have had a bumbag and overtrou that shat themselves.

You might get a good piece or you might not. It's a crap shoot.

I certainly wouldn't risk it on a vital piece of equipment like a pack or boots. Especially given that it isn't cheap gear to start with.

This. For your price i would be looking at a reputable outdoor brands hiking options. Always sales going on. Just stay away from Kathmandu.

another vote for getting a pair off Sarvo and also backing up the Hunter element and ridgeline cheap and nasty theme, got items from both brands and been disappointed in the quality. Better off to spend a bit more (or less in this case) and get some good boots

get the moths outa ya wallet and buy decent boots. Cheap crap boots is waste of money and might cost you your life. Sarvos deals are bloody rippers

I like a stiff-ish boot as spend a lot of time on the tops and I recently took the gamble on a brand I hadnt heard of before, I have run La Sportiva Karakourums for a few years and really liked them, but they just dont bloody last and rands fall off etc within a year of use so I wanted something similar but hopefully better quality. I bought these Anatom Q5 https://www.bivouac.co.nz/anatom-q5-...tain-boot.html as they run the same sole etc as the Karakourums but seem a little better built, they have been awesome so far and Im thinking I might buy their Q4 model also for knocking about in as it also looks to be a good boot on paper and in the flesh https://www.bivouac.co.nz/anatom-q4-...tain-boot.html currently on special at under $400 which is great value for money if they hold up like the Q5 is
