I'm not a keen sunscreen applier. Horrible stuff. So I try and cover up as much as possible, accepting that I will often also need light and fast drying for rivers and wet vegetation first thing. For this combination over last two years I've been using the Macpac Drift pants. LongJohns for when wet and also cold. Unlike the polyprops and uncovered legs though, the Macpac material doesn't pick up the hookgrass and bidibids (piripiri).

A little unorthodox but I use cheap fleece pants, but I spray them with silicone. Works a treat.

Use some Puffin dubbin to waterproof your legs, problem solved. Works on my boots
