    iPhone grid ref app

    Hi all,
Is there any decent app for iPhone to give grid reference for topo50 series maps?
I used to have one on android that I liked but can't find it for iPhones,
The reason I liked that one is that it worked really well out of coverage areas with no need for data or cell signal.
    What are you guys using??

    Just got View Ranger
Map downloads are by tile (pay per tile) via LINZ IIRC. So far so good. @BRADS put me onto it so he may have a better understanding

Other than it is very good, I sold my gps a year ago and haven't looked back.
You can buy the whole country but it's a few $$

I got lost trying to buy tiles so I bought the whole country for around $30.

The range of what we think and do is limited by what we fail to notice. And because we fail to notice that we fail to notice, there is little we can do to change; until we notice how failing to notice shapes our thoughts and deeds

So do you not use a gps now? Just the gps on your phone? Or just use phone for the maps?

I wouldn't have thought the phone gps was good enough, and the battery life would be terrible.

I bought a $19 topomap app for the iPhone that works really well, has the topos for the whole country and gives position to +-5m without cell coverage, doesn't record waypoints or tracks though. Seems as accurate as my Garmin 64S but somewhat lighter. Battery life is a concern but I just have the phone in airplane mode until I check position and the battery lasts weeks

Has anyone tried those solar panel battery banks? They could be an ideal solution.
