    Jacket, what would you choose?

I'm looking at getting a rain jacket and wanted to see what people were using? I looked through some of the previous threads and have narrowed down my choices to either the Tahr anorak XP, the glaisnock jacket an the new tundra jacket. I'm heading in to try them all on in store and see what i prefer but always want to see what other peoples experiences have been. other brands I have checked out are Line 7, Hunters Element, bivouac and kuiu. Sing out if i missed any?

Lightweight windproof is all I'm taking these days, unless it's,going to snow. Down vest underneath and I'm warm enuff. So much smaller in the pack

Swazi are having an 'end of product line' sale on the Tahr Anorak at present. Evidently they're taking them out of production...

Yeah, I don't understand that either?

Go onto their website, sign up as a clan member and get yourself the deal of the century. I was thinking of buying myself a new one since my current Anorak is pushing 17 years old now. Nothing wrong with it, just old.

Yeah i have my dpm smock that I wear as a wind breaker and love it. This is more for versatility for both hunting and walking to uni when it's pouring down haha

The original design is being discontinued, they are still making the XP

kuiu chugach would be hard to beat for a multi purpose south island jacket. Maybe not as durable as the swazi anorak but it packs down about half the size and is nearly half the weight. Also it doesnt act as a sponge like the swazi as its got a direrent outer layer.

The best thing i find with it is the 4 way stretch

Down sides are its not long in the tail

I have the original one but later model with Aegis instead of Goretex, big chest pocket is great, but no pockets down low so find myself hiking it up so I can put my hands in my pockets, XP has pockets down low for you hands but no chest pocket, pretty sure it's also Aegis

@Bonecrusher, the cactus option looks like a no nonsense robust jacket. have you used it and what was your experience with it? There is a store here in wellington so ill add it to the list and try one on.
    cheers
