Macpac are having a 30% sale at the moment. I picked up a clearance resolution jacket for $250. It's not that light but it is 3/4 length.

Maybe you could buy a tent and cut some arm holes in it?

To be fair, its probably still a lot lighter than most of the 'hunting' brand jackets. They generally seem to make them as heavy as possible, with soft outer layers to soak up extra weight when it rains.

Exactly what I was thinking. I have an original one and bought our around 2004 iirc. It's been great and there's nothing wrong with it now! The best thing about it wad I paid $440 when crt sold swazi gear

    Kuiu Yukon Jacket.

Just spent the weekend in the Kaimanawa tops, freezing my ass off. This jacket was excellent, performed exactly as described. I lived in it. PM if you want more info.

Sweet as, you won't regret it. I'm 6ft 83KG and ordered medium.

By the way, this jacket only goes down to your waist. Isn't the 'long coat' style. I far prefer shorter, much more comfortable IMO.
