I still use a swani, if that ever gives up the ghost I would probably look at a cactus, the couple of bits of theirs I have a damn solid!

@Shelley how do you find the swani over a 3-5 day trip? We have some and go a day in the rain they are the business but after a few nights getting soaked in them I find they aren't as water proof as they once we're. Granted they are over 20 years old and still decent.
Cheers
I emailed Swazi to ask them about a light weight option and got this from them which looks exactly what I'm after except for the lack of pit zips maybe.
Swazi had one at sika show, not sure when it's due out
Waterproof shell type jacket, light as
Went to buy some camouflage trousers the other day but I couldn't find any.
That looks really good. Hopefully the water proof stats are still good
Don't discount the "tramping" brands. There is a lot of good gear out there and you can also choose a colour other than green. Only disadvantage is that they are usually made of noisy materials but if it is raining I am usually heading out of the bush anyway.
Personally I use a light waterproof shell and layer underneath it depending on how cold it is. I have found this a more versatile (and lighter) way to go. Your rain jacket doesn't have to keep you warm - just dry.
Experience. What you get just after you needed it.
I use one of those waterproof anoraks that folds into its own pocket, it has a lanyard with a clip that i hook on my back belt loop. Don't even notice it there after a while but ready and accessible.
It is not for warmth, just wind and rain proof, nothing worse than wearing warm gear that doesnt breathe when it is dry.
Has the bonus that i dont get a wet arse when i sit and glass as i just sit on the waterproof.

"Here's the deal I'm the best there is. Plain and simple. I wake up in the morning and I piss excellence."
I copied Norway and added a piece of thermal mat that hooks into my belt for me to sit down on. It's the little things
I have a small bit that I use as the back panel of my pikau then I pull it out to sit on it when glassing. I just brought a new gossamear pack that uses closed cell foam for the back panel so will now use the same bit of foam for all three things - main pack, day pack and sitting on.
