Thread: jet boil

A SOTO windmaster and butane cannister with a small toaks pot/cup/lid set up appeals.

I have the Jetboil stash, which is a separate pot and burner set up. Best of both worlds. I take a small pan if I want to cook up real food. Out of interest, I ran a quick boil test using 200ml of cold water on

1. Jetboil burner + Jetboil pot + butane cannister - boil in 2 minutes
2. Jetboil burner + Toaks 250ml cup and lid + butane cannister - boil in 4 minutes

So double the boil time. The major variable is the Jetboil pot, which has the fins on the underside which direct the heat to circulate more efficiently. So that's the downside of a separate burner set up, is you will get less efficient boil times, and therefore use more butane. So if your using the small butane cannister you may need to take care over a longer trip (block wind etc).
