    K2 hunter pack

    Hey guys,

I have found an K2 hynterpack in my grandfather's old hunting stuff. I am keen to make it my main pack on multi-day hunts. It is in immaculate condition for the decades of use it got in the longwoods and fiordland.

It is missing the daypack, I have reached out to the company and they are unable to replace it. Is it worth replacing? Does anyone here have one they are willing to sell?

The rifle scabbard is missing to, I found when I had my rifle slinged on my shoulder it banged on the pack frame alot. Is it worth replacing with the K2 system or getting a new one?

It definitely isn't a stalking pack with the noise it makes through the bush.

    Cheers for any advice

I had a lot to do with that company and designed a bush pack with them some years ago - I am gobsmacked they cant replace the day pack - but any canvas maker could do it - would just need to see the type of zip - does not even have to be a day pack as original - it could be a waterproof pocket for those items one needs in a hurry like binos -etc really tough packs - we used them a lot in DOC -

They are awesome. Any half competent machinist can make replacement bag. I BELIEVE you may have communication issue.k2 can make you new bag and fit it,they POSSIBLY thought you wanted a freebee.

I stated in the email I sent that I was wanting to buy a replacement, they don't have anyone to do the work is the problem.

OKAY I had a K2 hunter as my hunting pack for some time - the one I helped design we called a Contractor bushman I think finaaly a short pack for heavy scrub-- to be honest the day bag on my K2 Hunter was nothing much - get a water proof pocket sown on - much more usefull

I am sure Twin Neddle could sort you out.

Suggest you take pack to? Saddlery? Or indeed twin needle. Get a decent daybag made up and corosponding zips sorted. I have bush hunted wearing mine. A polar fleece coat over pack stops any scratchy noise.

I had one for a while, the rifle hook was a pain, always getting hooked up in the vines/scrub, removed mine,
I thought the day pack was a good idea, but, not really a good day pack, get a pocket sowen on.
I sold mine and had K2 make a custom pack, more suited for tight bush travel.

Contact Kelly country in Nelson, they seam to be the K2, source.

Any decent canvas worker/shop can make a bag to fit that zip. And you can design the type of bag/pack/pocket you want to fit. Your local saddlery shop, or Twin Needle would be the go. And you can design and make a custom rifle scabbard at the same time. Very robust packs, well worth keeping in working order if you wanta carry heavy loads, or like a frame pack. Wish I still had my sewing machines, I'd do it for you.
