There are some quite good vegetarian options around, I stumbled across some in countdown ashburton last month, good if you don't mind a curry. Just drop the pouch in hot water and wait a bit. Energy wise they were better than the back country stuff I took per serve .
I've gone off dehi as I don't believe it offers any real advantage, yes it's light but you have to carry extra water and I find the texture no matter how long it's left to rehydrate "interesting". About the only dehi I take now is magic peas they are brilliant.
