They are a bloody great blade for a machete substitute. The design is such that the blade leads and so there is no way that you can smack your knuckles (as can be the case with a conventional machet). Don't worry about the lack of weight either. Once you get used to using one you can slice though wrist thickness branches in a single swipe. Oh and if you follow R93's advice then make sure it is some other bugger's blood. I have an enduring respect for the Ghurka but there is no way I would cut myself just because I pulled a Kukri out.
