    Klymit static v sleeping mat

Any opinions out there? Looking at the insulated version.

Found it pretty good for the price point. Have slept in snow on it in a decent sleeping bag and stayed warm enough. Don’t like it with quilts when cold as the groves can let a bit of a breeze in. Find it too thin to sleep on side.

I like mine, haven’t felt the ground through it yet. A little narrow to comfortably side sleep.. had it in snow and didn’t feel the cold through it

Their Insulation Values are made up bogus, not done to the internationally aggreed standard.

People that sleep well/warm on them probably are tough bastards that would sleep well inside a trash bin (no offence! :-) )

If you are a cold OR side sleeper avoid them.

I don’t think there is any actual R value difference between the insulated and non insulated so don’t waste money there.

They are much wider than most other regular sized mats and just narrower and than most ‘wide’ versions from other brands.

I just got 2 more v2s to replace the 3/4 sized ones I used to use for the family. I’m 90kg and side sleep fine.

    Have the static deluxe

I myself have the insulated static deluxe and I love it! My kids both have the insulated Klymit static and they have had no issues sleeping in them even in frosty cold temps.
They are good value money if you cannot afford top pricing. If you sleep cold take a liner just incase.

I like the sea to Summit ultra lite insulated.
    Good warm winter pad. R4.

I've had the Kylmit and the Thermarest Neo Air for about 6 years. Both are still going strong. The Neo Air is my default as it is warmer, lighter and packs down smaller. The Kylmit is comfortable, but the angled baffles do not perform as well as the horizontal design in the Neo Air. It's not as warm, sleeps colder. But, it performs well for the price point it is at, and is durable.

I returned mine for two reasons:

1 - it weighs more than they says it does
2 - the ACTUAL R value is much lower than what they advertise e.g. they claim a higher R value than the internationally tested value.

I owned a klymit insulated ultralite. Wasn't terrible for the price but if you plan on doing a bit of winter stuff would recommend getting a beefier pad. I have a thermarest x-therm (overkill for most people) but its great when Im sleeping on the snow.

About a year or so ago the industry agreed to independent testing and think some of the brands had to pull back their published R ratings. Think it was Big Agnes, but could be wrong. Thermarest did not.
