Hey man, I'm just over the hill. It's not hard once you get the hang of it.
First step is to get a decent system that will work for you. This can be as simple as a 2 sided whetstone or as complex as a wicked edge system.

I'm assuming you use a stone? What sort of stone and what grit?

Ask Andyanimal31 fromTaihape. Picked up a second hand one. It is idiot proof but prefer Scarysharp.

You could also have a look into Warthog Sharpners. South African product now available locally.

Works great and is eazy to use - my 9 year old boy has already got the hang of it.

Its all practice and trying different techniques until you find something that works well for. Took me almost 3 years to get all my knifes shaving sharp consistently and i still have a lot of trouble getting it right around the tip.

    You tube is you friend.

I’ll do it for you, if you want it done. I use diamond stones starting at 200 grit and working through progressive grits right up to 50000 that will let you split hairs.
I charge $5 if the blade is under 100 mm and $7.50 if it’s longer (I also do scissors, chisels, garden shears...).
If there is a major chip you want removed, or you have snapped the point off, or you want it regroundto a different angle then it’s an extra $2.50.
I get you to send me the knife and a self addressed prepaid envelope and I’ll send it back once done, usually the next day...
