    yes stropping is brilliant. It's so quick and easy and stretches out the time between stone sharpening significantly. And as ebf says, it really puts the final sharp on a sharp knife. I have a piece of leather I got off Hamish @HGD and it works well. I don't even have it glued to anything, I just lay it out flat on my marble kitchen bench top. Seems to do the job but I keep thinking I should probably glue it to a piece of wood only I've loaded up both sides with compound now.
