    Kuiu Packs

Is anyone using any of their packs?
Interested to here how their interchangeable bag system works and how they find it?

I have an Icon Pro 3200 and interchange the bag with an Ultra 6000 bag. The system works well. Changing bags is a simple case of unclipping 4 clips, a hook and a couple of top straps, then reattaching the new bag. Can be done in a couple of minutes. The Icon Pro model of packs have the heavier harness so are recommended for heavier loads. As the name suggests, the Ultra models are more minimal with less pockets, zips, straps and harness padding, thus weighing less overall. When I purchased, Shaun who is the South Pacific Kuiu rep, recommended I go with the Icon Pro harness and then which ever bag model/s I wanted (all bags fit either harness model). The 6000 with above harness weighs around 2.1 kgs which is pretty light for such a large volume pack (over 90 litres from memory). A couple of weeks back Philipo and I went for a wonder with 3 animals taken. My pack weight on the way out was a tad over 41kgs and it handled the weight well. Had I been using my 85 litre tramping pack my shoulders would have been aching at the end of the walk out, however while I was stuffed, I actually felt pretty good body wise and that was in my view due to the pack.

Id recommend viewing/trying one on if you can. Depending on your time frames, Kuiu always have a stand at the Sika show so that may be an option for you. That's what I did...

Thanks for that @Nesika I like the idea of a main pack then clipping on a day pack bag without taking 2 complete packs.

I had wondered that since the material was so liteweight.

Another thing for people to remember is if buying second hand or from their outlet shop they will not stand by their warranty.
