Thread: Kuiu Packs

Hi guys, just after some experience from people who have the Kuiu packs and sizing, looking at the pro 6000. I currently run a Tatonka bison 70L which I’ve found ok but want to bite the bullet on a kuiu set up. If you have the pro 6000 do you find this big enough for 3-4 day pack style missions? Or does anyone have the Pro LT 7000 and thoughts on that?. Flick me a PM if you prefer cheers Ryan

Have the Icon pro 6000 and also a Tatonka Bison 70+10. Both plenty big enough for a 3-4 day mission. The Kuiu 6000 is 6000 cu inch which works out to about 98 Litres.

Shit 98 litres for a 4 day mission. There must be a ton of luxurious treats in there!

I’ve got a few of those kuiu packs, 6000 would be a good size for what your wanting

You won’t regret going to Kuiu set up.I changed from Tatonka.Have 5500,3600 and 1850 bags now.Awsome kit.

You find the 5500 plenty big enough for 3-4 day missions mate?

I just picked up a Stone Glacier 6900 Sky Talus and by golly do those Yanks have it good. It compresses into nothing, has a meat shelf, the outer is rough as, and it turns from a 115l pack, to a 80l pack, to just the load shelf. When compressed down, it gets smaller than my 55l Deuter. I'd take a look at Stoke Glacier if you're spending big money on a pack.

It would depend what you take and how compact your setup is, if you found you were filling the tatonka I’d go 6000 if you had plenty of room in those trips I’d go 4000 or 5500.

All depends on the individuals setup,I run pretty lightweight kit and use the 3600 for Upto 3 days.The 5500 is my bag for extended trips,fit a weeks worth of gear.Compresses down nice and small.It is the LT range so the outer is lighter,330 cordura.If your in thick stuff,monkey scrub etc I’d look at the pro 6000 which is 500 cordura.

Thanks mate appreciate the opinions. I run a fairly minimal set up too but think I will lean to the 6000

The Kuiu has some good features but the Tatonka is the best I’ve worn.
70+10 is all I need but I’m no trophy moose hunter.

Really? I’d never go back to a tatonka

Probably a bit misinformed as far as the Kuiu is concerned but I know I’ve had some good weight in the Tatonka and it seems to be good on my bad back.
