Did the rolled jacket, stuffed bag etc and always slept shit box. But boy did I feel manly hassling the pillow users while feeling stiff and sore.

I can sleep on concrete with just a sleeping bag if I have too, but I'll be fucked if I will do it without a pillow. One of the easiest and most cost effective ways to have a better sleep outdoors

You go away and sleep in a motel and the pillows are garbage. No sleep. Not helpful for the next day when you have to perform for something very very important.

Used to roll up a jacket for a pillow. But I slept like shit. A good air mattress and pillow is an absolute game changer. No more cricked necks.
Now I have a bunch of different pillows
Inflatable one in a Goosefeet gear cover - for pack trips. I travel pretty light but the pillow is so awesome it gets carried every time.
For chopper, 4WD or boat trips I have a thermarest foam one. If theres a mattress I take a fitted sheet and a pillowcase too. Sleep much better.

Sea To Summit Aeros has been the best for me so far. Trick is to have it barely inflated. That being said the idea of stuffing the fleece top with the puffer, just think how many grams saved.

Also take a look at the "Exped deep sleep" pillow. No inflation needed and ready to used out of its little bag. Very happy with it.

Use one of the 4l sherry or port bags, by the time u drank it the pillow won't matter
If u don't sleep with your boots on like infantry, push leg parts of boot 1 into boot 2. Roll up jacket , u can use shoe lace to lightly tie the jacket inplace on top of boots. Proper foot hygiene strongly recommended

Who goes on a hunting trip without being prepared fitness wise?
Same with sleeping conditions. Do some practice sleeping in similar conditions. Sleep on the ground with whatever you will have on the trip.
The Princess and The Pea fairy tale was probably written after reading the Hunt Shoot forum.
