    Lowa boots

I know that the best investment you can make is a good set of "number 9's" but are Lowa's worth the money ?

I currently have some Vasque GTX Zephyr's which have servied me well for the last 4 odd years & are now getting to the end of their life
I find the Vasque's a nice boot, however the new model "Zephyr II's" look a bit gay & now Im wondering if I should go to Lowa's
Shoot it, root it & then BBQ it !!!

Have you looked at the Grisport Boots? I ahve the Kaikoras and they are best boots I've ever owned.
They do a Hunter, Hiker etc (have changed the names recently)

I prefer the Lowas over Meindels, and purely because they fit me slightly better. As for lasting? Mine are shot in two years, but do get a hammering (i.e. worn from sept thru till june everyday).
I've heard people rave about the GriSport boots, never tried them myself though.

My next pair of Lowas will be bought off the net on sale. Its easy when you know exact size and model numbers.

Yeah theres an old saying about buying boots, If you find a decent pair then buy 2 pairs & save the hassel next time

Those Grisports do'nt look to bad, the mohaka's look quite simular to my current Vasques

I might go try some on tomorrow

    Have you considered Haix?

I think it is the "K2" that would be a comparable model to what you have. They look nice, when my Meindls wear out I'll be trying a pair.

    Ive got K2's.
They were quite harsh on the feet for the first 20hours of walking for me but now they are broken in they are awesome.
Just spent the weekend down in gisbourne hunting and thats in the steep stuff , perfect support and very comfortable

I've had my Lowas for about six years now, good boot for alpine use but noisy in the bush.

    Interesting thread so far.

Currently got a pair of Grisport Hunters - love em, but after two years of constant abuse - they have seen better days

Tempted to buy the Kaikoura version next time around.

Ive had the same problem twice with my lowas , randing always comes loose . The newer models are noticeably better than the old ones.Apart from that theyve been brilliant.

I bought some Lowa rangers everything about them is great, got them from Bakers in the states for a great price. I have always had Asolos up till now but wont go back after wearing these.

I had Asolo's as well but had to get a new pair of boots after they fell apart from 23yrs of abuse.
After trying on every option available, I found the Lowa Tibet's fitted me the best. I then ordered them from Bakers in the US and saved $350.

First trip I went on (4 days of high country hunting) was 2 days after receiving my new boots. I didn't have time to break them in before the trip so I had to break them in on the hill. Not 1 blister! The inner soles are a bit naf, but I have some formthotics to put in them anyway.
Time will tell if they last anything like my last pair.

Their all getting to fucking expensive. I swear by the Meindels, but the price they are getting to I swear at the cunt ripping the $$$ out of my wallet. But then that's only cause us dumbarsed kiwi's keep paying....

You're right about us kiwi's getting ripped!
That's why I got mine from the US.
Shame to take business away from the NZ stores, but if they can't do those prices they lose.
