Lowa resole service
My trusty Tibets are losing their sole.
Its separated at the back between the hard rubber sole itself and the softer upper sole. Not a case of simply glueing it back on as the spongy rubber has become crumbly.
To be fair they are 8 odd years old,but they are comparatively low mileage and the uppers are in very good condition and I make an effort to look after them. Lowa NZ offer a resole service for the Tibets, has anyone used it? $250 is a lot cheaper than new boots.
Are there other options?
Cheers

I have a pair of meindls I got resoled through Alan Perrett Shoe Repairs based in Ashburton.
Well under $250 from memory, he used vibram soles and they came back beautifully done, I’d happily use him again.

Sounds like hydrolysis issue and the pu foam mid sole has deteriorated. They can't do anything with them in that instance.
Thats the trouble with them.
Very prone to it and not repairable so they told me.

Just watch out, I did a pair of Meindels but they didn’t replace the PU part and the were hard as hell on my feet and a bit smaller in size after resoling.
Would not do it again again.

Yes lowa do replace the PU part as part of a resole
But its only the mountain, hunting and heavy duty tramping boots they resole.
Not the medium or light weight boats and shoes.
Watch the video, guys just puts a knife through between the outersole and the leather inner, then grinds of all the foam.
