    Macpac Minaret

Looking at tents can anyone recommend the Macpac Minaret for someone knocking on the door of 6”3 ?

    Cheers

I’m 6’4” and found the Minaret a bit short. The Olympus (older model 1997 vintage ) is much better, nice and cheap at the moment. Macpac have 40% off.

I agree, I am 6'4" too and had a shit night on Ruapehu in August in a Minaret. The cut off angle just doesn't make life easy in my opinion. Seemed pretty bomb proof in terrible weather though.

The Olympus is on sale for $659 at the moment about $120 more than the Minaret. Not going to get much better than that unless you find a second hand one somewhere.

The MSR, Big Agnes will be dearer, lighter but not as sturdy as an Olympus.

I'm 6' 1" and have a mineret. At your height I think it would be a bit short.

I'm 6ft 2. Could stand a kathmandu mono, so brought a bushbuck horizon - I rate it when it comes to size I can easily roll over, lie down, sit up and put my pack in the tent overnight.

Although I'm waiting for the tent/hammock on kickstarter to be built.

The minaret is a great tent and perfect for me at 5ft 10 but I wouldn't want it to be any shorter.

I have found a lot of exped tents have good length. My old Sirius II has heaps of room to store stuff down by your feet, I think its 225cm long inside.

I have a Exped Mira 2 and a long mat 197cm fits in with room to spare.
