So I am still intrigued by the scandi grind, but feeling a Mora (or in my case, a frost), does not adequately portray it I went further afield and tried a condor bushlore, this was better but was not quite what I was looking for as I felt the blade was a tad too thin at roughly 2.5 mm and the overall knife was a tad to long at 235 mm, it was better than the Frost but still left a little to be desired.
Not wanting to wait 10 years and get a second mortgage for a Ray Mears Woodlore I decided to make my own knife.
Sort of anyway, I found an English chap who makes knives and knife kits, got a custom made 5mm thick scandi ground blade with a secondary convex bevel, I suppose a Scandivex, made from O1 tool steel, 220 mm long with half being handle half being blade, I also got a set of loveless bolts with brass nuts and a stainless bolt, some brass tubing, some green vulcanised rubber liners and a nice piece of super grade curly birch wood for the handles.
I also got a piece of graph paper to make the pattern for the sheath.
I know need some epoxy and to do some sanding, I may also need a step down drill bit, not sure where to get that but will start looking next, in the meantime I will begin sanding.
Part 2 to follow.
