Thread: Maxtoch NZ version vs international

Craftys state on their website (https://www.craftys.co.nz/product/ma...eam-torch-kit/) that their 2X differs from the one sold internationally. Can anyone confirm this? I did some research and could not find any info about that.
How is your experience with Maxtoch warranty?

@mudgripz What are your thoughts...?

The only difference I could think of would be is one of them dedomed and the other not ?
Scrub that they are both dedomed. Looks like it has better contactors ( gold) vs the standard one and "lightened" not that they are that heavy anyway.

I grabbed a couple off @Muzgripz and compared the M1 Archer with a mates from the store here and mine has a much better flood and natural light. Mates is very narrow, white and quite frankly I don’t like it at all.

If I could buy more on the @mudgripz version I would.

Brian (@gadgetman) and I designed and tuned our models specifically for hunting. Light weight, not overamped so they gave good runtimes, correct tint to prevent glare and cut through atmospheric crap, and good beam balance with some flood plus long range central hotspot which meant you could scan paddocks with them. And the bigger Maxis did not have overheating problems - did not stepdown after 3-6 minutes like all the lights on offer now. Latest lights on offer focus on putting highest output LEDs for max distance and you end up with high amped things that stepdown quickly and thus can't be used as spotlights, and they usually have v narrow beams. That's not what hunting needs. Anything with high lumen/distance output in a small reflector/head is going to be of very limited use.

Can't really advise you what to buy - except if we decide to build more. Had a chat about it the other day but it's unlikely with all the Covid freight/supply probs ex China today..

We still use our Maxis all the time and even after 5 years we enjoy how good they are. Going strong. Yours still going good Ruger? Remember ruger/stag that Brian still has some spares for the 2xs etc.

Pity the chinese did a dirty - by heavens we'd have had awesome lights these days if still designing and developing them...

That 2X is still at the bottom of that deep watery grave. Such is life . Still got some "old" lights. Thank god. LOL.

yeah mate mine are still going strong including the "first" double battery one ( 6n 2 something).
Thanks mate I will remember about the spares. Actually I think I might have a 2s that doesn't work. Must drag them all out and check them.

It pissed me off big time the way the bastards treated you guys. Seemed they waited for you to design and create a demand for them and then cut you out of the loop. I haven't spent any money with them since

We'll see... The problem is chinese manufacturer business ethic. They have none!

Yes both you boys, ruger and Te Rei were involved in field testing those lights - first and foremost they had to pass in the field - be effective for that particular task. Without any exaggeration the best hunter lights in the world at the time - and the old ones possibly still are. Alot of new makes and models but they do not meet specific hunter spec, and none have solved the heat/stepdown problem while meeting all hunter requirements.

Ruger - if you've got an old 2S - Brian because he may be able to upgrade it with new driver/ led etc. He's here shortly - I'll ask him.

Ruger just spoke to Brian - if you PM him he has an updated driver board and dedomed U4 LED which will really upgrade that early 2S of yours. This will make it hum....

Bit gutting really, we may have to start a partition forcing you and Brian back to redesigning another range of the same high standards.

@mudgripz I remeber you showing me some when I bought your JW15, nice units, and the wee rifle is still bang on, everytime.

Yes those polished, chopped little JWs are great - very sharp little hunters. Must have done 15-20 or so. Problem is every time we do one, some bugger comes in and buys it off me.......

Thanks Mudgripz, yeah mate I dragged all my torches out last night and the little SN6X-2 is still going I'm pretty sure it's dedomed since Manualman was kind enough to show me his dedoming skills a few years ago. that was the first torch that showed me just how ridiculous all the other ones were.
I fired up the 2s and it seems to be going, but can't remember if it was an overheating issue which would turn it off. I will give it a kicking and see if I can get it to fault again. No harm in upgrading the components though
It may have just been a contact issue, where sometimes the tail cap doesn't make good contact with the batteries etc...
