Thread: Maxtoch shooter 2x LED Replacement

Hi all, Have got a maxtoch shooter 2x that has stopped working, think the led chip overheated as it stopped working and could see a brown colour around the outside of the led. Think I got this one from Huntshop a couple of years ago and hasn't had a lot of use.
Have put the multimeter on it and getting power to where the wires solder on to the led board, so hopefully I can just solder a new board/ led unit into it myself.
It was the Cree XM-L2 U4 dedomed but I can't seem to find these on a 32mm board, they all seem to be 16 or 20mm and fitting one to a board is a bit beyond my skill level. Does anyone know where to get these from?

Got a 2X after the Pixies got the boot and had to get a replacement cap. Quality .Well. Go figure.

Yeah I know what you mean, considering replacing with an olight but wanting to try one first, and slightly annoyed at not getting anywhere near $300 worth of use from the maxtoch before it stuffed out

Aliexpress should be chocca with them, but might be a bit of a wait at the moment with their lockdown.
You could try hunt shop since retailers are supposed to be able to supply parts for the stuff they sell. Although I see their contact details are just a g mail address so looks a bit sus unless they have a retail shop here

Excuse the munted thumb, and I scratched the burnt stuff off around the edges of the led after realising it was stuffed had nothing to lose by trying it, worked for about half a second then all over again. Have checked aliexpress and google but they only seem to be avaliable on 16 or 20mm boards, would preferably like dedomed as the colour is much nicer

i could try to just replace the LED chip itself if you like, i have a few laying around, it should come off with the correct flux and the hot air rework tool

Thanks, that would be great if its not too much hassle, happy to make it worth your time with cash/ beer / prime venison or whatever suits. PM me please

Always cook kale in coconut oil..

It helps it to slide off the pan into the rubbish bin easier.
