Can you get them in NZ?
Probably like everything stager distribute they like to rip you a new one
#BallisticFists
As an example I saved about 125 quid getting mine from germany rather than locally here in NZ.
Generally they're about $600-700. I've had a few pair and would never buy them again...
"Treat the Earth well. It was not given to you by your parents, it was loaned to you by your children.”
$550 for island pros, I like them but haven't had anything else to compare
I gave £255 for a pair of Drove extreme GTX, so I made a saving. Is there anything else worth getting before I leave?
hawkfish, I get the Harkila Staika GTX 12" from the UK, they are the best all round boot I have used, I rate them way over the Meindls I have used.
Yes you can get them here at some outdoors shops.
Some branches of Hunting and Fishing carry them. The Dover may be a bit extreme for some NZ conditions.
While you are still in the UK nail down your exact size.....even buy a second pair, perhaps lighter than the Dover.
If you still have family there they can send them to you, even with postage the savings are substantial.
We get gouged on Meindls ( along with a lot of things hunting related ) in NZ.
I use Meindls at work but I don't pay for them and unsure of what they cost.
I use Eagle GTX and Police GP but am going to try the Kampfstiefel Leichts next or some Lowas. I really rate the Eagles.
Had a couple pairs of Island Pros, doubt I'll buy them again. Prefer a lighter boot for summer and something crampon compatible for winter.
They have Meindl boots at Torpedo7 starting around $500. Before I buy anything now I check the Torpedo7 website first coz they seem to have some awesome gear for quite cheap.
I really liked the Harkila boots but they have been getting a really bad reputation for leaking and not lasting long at all over here and it pit me off. The Meindl's seem to score top marks in any magazine write up or forum/facebook group poll and I know a whole bunch of people that ware them day in day out and recomend them, hence why I got them, but there is no such thing as perfect (I keep telling the wife Im as good as it gets!), one mans "pile of crap" is another mans "best thing since sliced bread" and all that...
So is there anything else worth getting before I leave?
They are 5-600 here and are all I buy these days. On about my sixth or seventh set, get around two years out of a set and I don't own any other shoes. The fuckers don't leave my feet.
At that price they are way cheaper than the 3-400 buck boots that I just can't get a year out of.
Have no idea what the name of the he current set is and don't care. They work.
