    Meindl Guffert

Has anyone had any experience with the Meindl Guffert boots? I'm thinking about dipping my toes in and going for a different pair after damaging my ankle and the old brand I had just feeling a little tighter. The Guffert appeals to me because they seem to go to larger sizes and support a wider foot but having never owned Meindl's before I am always nervous about spending considerable coin.

    Anyone tried them?

I run then now, after years of the meindl island pro. My toes love them!

I've owned a couple of pairs of island pros and 1 set of dovres.
    Supper comfortable
The only negative I can think of is that vertical stitching on the side of the boot can come loose if you are in the scree a fair bit on the tops - same as my old island pros

Thanks team. I’ll largely be moving through bush with them and also rucking so hopefully the stitching shouldn’t pose an issue

Been running a pair of these for last 4 years, weekend warrior only but have held up well so far. Just starting to see the rand rubber getting a bit cracked and cut up from scree. They are pretty stuff and heavy - esp when wet and take a long time to dry. Hot in sumner. Great for sidling in the steep country. Haven’t had any blister issues even on 25+km days. The sole construction seems to avoid the issues some of the moulded ones have with separation in time and my cobbler assured me he can easily resole in the future. Would buy again but would prob look for lighter more flexible options for bush stalking unless you really want the hefty support.

For those of you who are concerned about the stitching coming off over time it is a good idea to smear/rub some aquasure onto the seams. Makes them way more durable.

My old pair of Meindl Island Pros lasted forever and were tough as nails. Such a good boot but sometimes tight on my little toe. I now have the Guffert for the wider toe box and they are better again for my feet. My current go to boot.

I've buggered my ankle, so the support is a must and the tire kicking around my waist is the only weight I am concerned about

Love my Guffert boots - a bit overkill for most of NI hunting but they're my top pick. Feel great, a little heavy (being leather) but worth it.

Do you remember the model boot? Have heard this is a problem with the moulded sole construction ones like the islands but no issues with my Gufferts (yet)

I love mine. Used for alpine hunting in very tough terrain including a couple of tahr trips so far. Only concern is that the leather does look to be taking a few hits from the chunky scree. Not as tough as some other boots like my previous pair of Haix. Might be the price to pay for the excellent comfort.

This is a general issue with boots with this construction. It applies for Lowas, Hanwags, Scarpas you name it. The polyurethane used in the midsole can age fairly quick. It applies for all boots, even if they haven‘t been used. Good thing, most boots can be resoled for about 180 NZD. My wify had her‘s resoled just recently for 100 Euros.
