Well worth it. I lugged a hinds arse up a steep hill last night. Stopped for a puff every 50 yards but the weight was no trouble. Dr said stop and rest every time you get the pain in your chest - if it doesn't stop go straight to the hospital So far its always stopped.

My hunting gear paid itself off a long time ago. Hell because I don’t own a boat my spearguns paid for itself a hundred fold.

Anyone researching packs and finds this thread. If you’re going for Exo, get the 5000 over the 3600. Cinch down to pretty much same size when empty and weigh pretty much the same with added benefit of a heap more room.

I've got the 5000 on its way and after speaking to Exo direct thats the conclusion I came to, I will flick some photos up when it arrives

My mate asked me in the w.e what new day pack i was using…it was my SG compacted down to bivvy mode with lid off.
He was amazed it was the same 95 litre pack. The exo and sg do this the best i think.

I've been using a Stone Glacier Evo 3300 for about 4 years now. It has held up well. I've carried up to 55kg at least loaded up - that's the heaviest load I've actually weighed. Nothing feels right at that kind of weight - I reckon about 40kg is the max I can do for the body to feel OK regardless of the pack. The SG is comfortable enough to carry if set up right, up to maybe 35kg. It's definitely the most comfortable pack to carry weight that I've ever used.

It's only 57L I think, but I can fit gear for 6 nights 3-season trips in the pack body. I have used the expandable load shelf before for overflow food.

I selected this particular model as it has the least complicated design I could find of all the load shelf type packs.

Loaded up with half a yearling red on the shelf & all my gear for a 6 night trip (minus half the food)

I'm using a Kifaru Gnargali, brought secondhand but was worth the outlay. Was the basic design I wanted with top loading as I have trust issues with zip blowing out. Great thing about Kifaru is that you can add pockets to the outside to extend its size for more food (pork crackling is my favourite)
I've also had heavy loads in this and has been alot easier than previous packs. I now even use it on bush overnighter and just cinch it down.

Anyone noticed the packs they are using on the new series of nz hunter adventures? Looks like they have gone away from the Tatonkas

Bang on. No one really believes JE Wilds wants to use that shitty Leopold bino bivvi. That's this week's tip brought to you by your local hunting and fishing.

I've run lots of bino bivs from twin needle to kuiu and have used the leupold one for 2 years and rate it as the best.
