    More knives than I thought!!

Weather is turning wet again so, with a couple of trips coming up, thought I would have a general clean and touch up of a few knives I have distributed around vehicle, boat, hunting gear etc. I’m sure I haven’t got a knife problem but I seem to have accumulated a few. They generally all have a place but it does look to have added up to a wee bit.

Hahaha, I got them from George Henry’s on seeing the positive feedback from forum members. Less than $20 each delivered, feel really nice in hand, practical blade design, sheath, and well made. What’s not to like and perfect to leave one in the truck and boat.

Yes, I also have a stock paua knives on hand which I modify slightly and fit a lanyard to, which I give away regularly. I’ve just got the two Bahco’s and the Victory’s recently but I don’t think you could go wrong with either as gifts, especially the wee Victory drop point with the neat little sheath. Perfect light weight package for your day pack.

You know the gurkha law..... if they unsheath their knife it must draw blood before being re-sheathed....

Some will find this interesting but a bit of history...

An old cobber from Australia, friend of my father's who was on the Kokoda trail in ww2 told us the above and I've never forgotten about it.

He never spoke much about the war but he did tell few story's about fighting alongside the Gurkhas.

One story that he would tell often was being on duty at night near the enemy, you wouldn't hear a thing but suddenly an arm would warp around you and a hand clasped over your mouth, the arm around you would feel your shoulder for the amount of pips on the epaulette. Then a voice would say, "All good friend" then the gurkha would slip back into the night.

The reason for feeling the epallette was that they could tell by the feel if they were Allies or Japanese, that hand would also be holding the knife so if by any chance it was enemy they would slice the throat on the way back past....

The Khukuri was a gift from my brother when he was in Nepal many years ago. Bought at Khukuri House in Kathmandu. Quite a nice one made with buffalo horn but not really of any practical use for me. I like to maintain it regularly and it’s long overdue to be on display but still on the long list of projects waiting to be actioned.

Not sure yet, just new. Will run it through a full Red carcass before I pass judgment.

I would be too scared to line up all my knives. Might show I have a bit of a problem
I've got a 4 day weekend so maybe I could dig them all out if I'm feeling bored and take a pic
