    Multitool

Looking at getting a multitool. I've never had a decent one but had plenty of times I wish I had one. What do you guys have? Been looking at leatherman branded ones of late. Specifically the Leatherman Surge. Is there something else in the same price range (sub $150) that I should be looking at?

It will mostly be used as an everyday tool, so in the car to open boxes, and cut my fingernails in the car lol. but it's main use will be out in the field and out and about when I am no where near a proper set of tools. ie fixing something on the side of the road, or at the range etc.

Pretty set on either of these

or maybe the black oxide version one as it might be more rustproof in a marine environment? Although I like my knives sharp, so maybe a the stainless one is a better option?

I have the leatherman wave and it is in constant use, very robust and the blade takes a wicked edge. Would definately buy another if i lost my one.

I have not used the gerber so cannot comment on them.

Iv'e got a Leatherman Blast Oxide version ...tossed up between that brand and S.O.G brand, have had it for over two years now has had plenty of use and works mint.. the blade also seems to have kept its edge(as I seem to have cut myself enough times with it ?!?!)

I have the Wave also, snapped the tip off the pliers again the other day but the guarantee is good and sure they will fix it again for free. It gets plenty of use and is a good tool.

I had a Gerber which was an excellent tool, but someone borrowed it! I still have the pouch. Also have a leatherman and no probs with that, must be of lower quality as I still have it.

I have Leatherman Super Tool 200 and a SOG quality on both is very good the SOG has been with me since 1995 and is the one mostly carried. Not as many features but thinner lighter and easier on the belt.
Velocity is thrilling, but diameter does the real killing.

Gerber Suspension is a really good multitool. I have had one for 4 years and use it extensively without any issues. Advantage of it is that its spring loaded so is easily operated with one hand.

Dunno if it's true for the modern and/or fancy ones but my leatherman plier wirecutters got a bit munted cutting #8 wire - nothing against the product but I wouldn't push them beyond what they're good for

Ended up with the supertool 300. Re the wire cutters I will be mostly using them for electrical wire so mo issues. The wire cutter teeth are replaceable on the 300 which is nice

I've got a Leatherman Wingman, bought off a forum member. Flippin sweet, does the trick! I don't seem to ever miss out by not having pliers but that's just me
